About 20 percent of the National Referral Hospital (NRH) staff are yet to get their vaccination.
This was revealed by the National Referral Hospital (NRH) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. George Malefoasi during a press conference on Friday.
Dr. Malefoasi revealed this when asked by a journalist how many medical staff will be working during the 36 hours simulated lockdown.
He said NRH has 445 staff that were already immunized and they have picked from that 445 staff to work during the lockdown drill.
“Usually for a whole day to run a hospital we can pick from 250 to 300 staff to work. But we will have to cut back on the service because about 20% of staff at NRH are not vaccinated,” Dr. Malefoasi said.
He added they have rioritized vaccinated staff to work during the lockdown.
“Having looked through the plans of the lockdown about 350 staff will cover basic normal services,” Dr. Malefoasi said.
He added also staff will be working at the Emergency Department and the Central Field Hospital.
NRH CEO Dr. Malefoasi said this 350 is a very big number and it includes doctors, nurses, cooperate services like the kitchen personals, maintenance personals, electrician and others.
Meanwhile, for Honiara City Council (HCC) around 110 to 120 staff have been assigned work to during lockdown this includes doctors, nurses and logistics.
For Guadalcanal Province (GP) about 30 staff have been involved during this lockdown.
