THE Malaita Province Full Assembly Budget meeting has commenced on Tuesday in Auki, with most of the non-executive members absent.
Eighteen out of the 33 Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) attended the meeting while 15 did not make it to the meeting.
MPA for Ward 4, Iven Tonafalea is the only non-executive member that joined the 17 executive members of the MARA Government at the meeting.
Premier Daniel Suidani yesterday welcomed and thanked Mr Tonafalea for making it to the meeting.
He also took the time to call on the 15 non-executive MPAs to follow Tonafalea’s example.
He said the storm is now over and it’s time to come together as voted leaders of the province serving the interest of the Malaita.
“MARA executive is willing to reconcile with non-executive MPAs to iron out ill feelings between the two groups as leaders.”
Meanwhile, the meeting was adjourned yesterday following the opening speech from Premier Suidani and the debate speech from the Finance Minister, Nelson Lenty.
The meeting will resume today to debate the Finance Minister’s speech.
