Development Services Exchange (DSE) is calling on all peace loving people in Honiara to refrain from looting and rioting that is still going on in Honiara since Wednesday.
DSE reiterate the call by other organisations for the people of Honiara to respect the rule of law and refrain from unlawful activities.
“Violence and looting are not the right way to express disappointments.
“This chaos is now putting our vulnerable women and children in a very distressing situation.
“We think of all our peace loving people of Honiara as we all are experiencing this hardship,” a statement from DSE said.
“The destruction of property, rampant looting of our economic zones and burning of buildings including schools will have severe implications for our already ailing economy, our education, and, will result in further job losses and poverty will increase.”
The statement said DSE understand there are issues that needs to be addressed by our political leadership and that can be solved if all parties come together and openly dialogue about the pressing issues.
“We call on all political leaders to set aside your political differences and come to the table with other leaders of this nation to have open dialogue and find solutions about the situation we are faced with.
“This is the time the nation needs the leadership of this nation more than before.
“We call on the Prime Minister and political leaders of this nation to listen to the people in their quest for dialogue over the issues of concerns.
“We again reiterate the call by other institutions and call for calm amidst the situation residents of Honiara are now face with,” DSE said.
