The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has dismissed rumours that three suspects arrested by police at Burns Creek were brutally killed.
In a statement Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said these are false and wrong information.
“This is false and wrong information that we should not speculate about.
“Do not try to use such information to gain people’s attention to do more bad activities against the police,” Ms Matanga said.
She clarified that two people were arrested and the other one escaped from police at the location.
“Currently those suspects are in police custody pending for further dealings.”
“Even though the situations seem tense when it comes to arrest, we do it lawfully.
“This is to make it fair and will be presented to court for fair trial.
“So my officers will have to do things within the bound law,” the deputy police commissioner said.
Meanwhile, Ms Matanga calls on the people, especially children and families who are involved in the looting and burning of buildings to stop from engaging in these unlawful activities.
“Think about the future of our children.
“What we do now will have its impact on our country.
“This is our own town and we should take ownership of it.
“I appreciate West Honiara communities and Naha for helping the police,” Ms Matanga said.
