POLICE Chief Mostyn Mangau has denied claims there were divisions among his executives during the recent unrest which saw the intervention of foreign troops into the country.
He said in terms of the police force, they were tasked according to their plan.
“There is the operational team, there is the support team as well as investigation team,” Mr Mangau explained when asked if the result of the foreign troops intervention is because of poor leadership from the executives.
“I am here to oversee the administration of our operation and provide strategy overview of what police trying to do.
“So there is no division within the police force,” Mr Mangau said.
“The police force are very strong to ensure that operation is successful to provide safety to our people,” he added.
He said at this point in time, only a few of them came out to answer issues in the media because they are all tied up with their planning and engagement of the current situation.
Mr Mangau further clarified that there are six executive members who attend to the Operation Centre in Honiara City to coordinate the team on the ground.
“We are stretching our manpower to oversee this current operation.”
When asked by a media personal what his responses are to criticisms against made against him by a senior doctor, Mr Mangau said he will not comment on that.
He, however, said that is the doctor’s personal view and everyone have the right to express their concerns.
“My office is subject to be criticised by members of the public.”
