ONLY 20.7percent of the vaccine eligible population above 18 years of age in the country is fully vaccinated.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare highlighted this in his fortnightly nationwide address, last Friday.
Mr. Sogavare said to date the country have administered a total of 284,226 COVID-19 vaccines out of 828,654 doses for our target population above 18 years of age of 414,327 people.
He explained this means only 34% of the required doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in the county.
“Only 85, 965 people are fully vaccinated. This is only 20.7% of the vaccine eligible population above 18 years of age,” Mr. Sogavare said.
He added 48% of our population above 18 years of age have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine – this includes the 85,965 people that had been fully vaccinated, and 112, 296 people that had taken their first dose of vaccines.
Prime Minister therefore encouraged all those that had taken their first dose of COVD-19 vaccines to take their second dose when it is due.
He added if they all do, we will reach 48% full vaccination in the country.
