BOOSTER vaccines are currently reserved for frontline workers.
This was the statement of Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) advisor Dr Yogesh Choudhri during the Radio Talk-Back Show on Sunday.
“The booster right now is reserved for frontliners that include health workers, customers, immigration, stevedores and more,” Dr Choudhri said.
He said other people eligible for the booster vaccines are those who are 55 years and above as well as those people with high blood pressure and respiratory diseases.
He said these people are eligible only if have already taken two doses of the vaccines in the last six months or earlier.
“So, these people are eligible for booster,” he said.
A COVID booster shot is an additional dose of a vaccine given after the protection provided by the original shot(s) has begun to decrease over time.
Some frontliners have already received their booster vaccines.
Booster vaccines are now offered in Honiara at the Solomon Islands Ports Authority area and soon to be offered in other sites and clinics.
