Strongim Bisnis backs Lodge
THE Australian funded Strongim Bisnis Program is supporting Parangiju Mountain Lodge with the construction of its track to the Tenaru Falls.
Strongim Bisnis yesterday congratulated the owners of the well-known lodge situated just outside of Honiara during a ground breaking ceremony before the construction of the Tenaru Falls track starts.
The upgraded track will make the Tenaru Falls hike more accessible, safer and include birdwatching and rest spots, Strongim Bisnis said.
“If you’ve been to Tenaru falls you’ll know how exciting it is that more people will be able to access this magical spot,” the statement said.
Demand for cargoes to Auki
DEMAND by retail and wholesalers to deliver their cargoes to the provinces especially Auki, Malaita Province remains high.
This was evident yesterday where loading for Auki has commenced on board Ocean Joy yesterday morning at the Point Cruz wharf.
It was revealed there was endless queue of vehicles waiting to load their cargoes onboard the cargo vessel.
It was the third trip for Ocean Joy to Auki after the lockdown.
It was further highlighted that some of the drivers even slept at the wharf with their cargoes on Wednesday night just to secure a space.
They were even there as of Wednesday morning.
Only the bad weather has slowed down loading on Thursday.
Auki is definitely going to be a busy port once the boat travels over.
Other boats are also loading cargoes for Auki.
Ten cargo-only flights today
TEN flights are set for today to airlift cargoes to various provincial destinations around the country.
Solomon Airlines yesterday released the schedule which will see cargo-only flights from Honiara to Rennell, Gizo, Munda, Parasi, Kirakira, Fera, Suavanao, Ramata, Seghe and Auki.
Most of the destinations which do not have access to shipping services rely on airlines to deliver cargoes.
Cargo for these destinations have been prepared yesterday with late ones expected to be dropped off this morning.
Honiara residents stranded in those destinations who wish to return to Honiara can do so.
On Saturday and Sunday no services will be operated to allow the airlines team and aircrafts to rest.
Services are expected back on Monday.
Our students welcome SI envoy to Fiji
SOLOMON Islands Students Association (SISA) members studying at the University of the South Pacific (USP) Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji officially hosted a welcome reception for the country’s new High Commissioner to Fiji Joseph Ma’ahanua last week.
Reports said members of the local students association at the USPSA Laucala Branch welcomed H.E Joseph Ma’ahanua during a brief ceremony.
The welcome program featured garlanding of H.E Ma’ahanua upon arrival and cutting of the welcome cake.
H.E Ma’ahanua also took time to speak to the students during the ceremony.
Entertainment through cultural performance was also a highlight at the occasion.
The welcome came as the first batch of our local government sponsored students is due to arrive back in the country next Wednesday on a chartered repatriation flight.
The flight is for students who have completed their studies last year.
