MEMBERS of the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) may have the opportunity to withdraw part of their contributions if the Board
considers a submitted request and gives its approval.
Secretary to Prime Minister (SPM) and Vice Chairman of the National Oversight Committee (NOC) Dr Jimmie Rodgers highlighted this during the National Oversight Committee Talk Back Show, Sunday.
He was responding to a question raised by one of the listeners who asked if there’s any plan by SINPF Board to allow members to withdraw part of their contributions.
In response Dr Jimmie who is also the chairman SINPF Board confirmed, a request has been submitted to the Board and they will be looking at it.
“We have received a request on it and SINPF Board will be looking at it,” he said.
In 2020 Minister of Finance Harry Kuma allowed members to withdraw $5000 across the board for all its members.
That was when there was no COVID outbreak in Solomon Islands.
In light of the current outbreak many members who have lost their jobs have been calling on SINPF to consider a similar exercise.
