THE public is now urged to strictly observe and adhere to all COVID-19 safe measures.
Minister of Health and Medical Services Dr Culwick Togamana said with the resurgence of COVID-19 cases the public must adhere to all public health measures and protocols.
Dr Togamana said these measures include; wearing of facemasks in public places, frequent hand washing with hand sanitizers or soap, cough or sneeze into bent elbow or tissue and disposed properly in bins, avoid overcrowding areas and practice physical distance at 2metres apart.
He said these measures must be applied by business houses, shops, banks, restaurants and at public areas including markets.
He said these premises must also enforced restriction for only those wearing facemasks to enter their premises and to have hand sanitizers at the entrance of your premises.
“I will request the assistance of our law enforcement agencies, that is our policemen and women and the Honiara City Council securities to assist in enforcing these measures,” Dr Togamana said.
He also urged the public in Honiara to limit movements within Honiara and avoid visiting communities at Lord Howe Settlement and Alligator Creek.
“These communities including Guadalcanal Province should be refrained from organising community based events – events involving more than 10 people,” the Minister said.
To those tested positive to COVID-19 or experience COVID-19 like symptoms, Dr Togamana said they must immediately go into self-isolation.
These symptoms include runny nose, fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and lack of smell or taste.
