The new Chairman for Health Division at the Honiara City Council, Cr. Reginald Ngati has raised concern in regards to the usage of Multipurpose Hall during this COVID situation.
In a statement Ngati said the Ministry of Health and Medical Services with the Oversight Committee need to relook and provide some agreement which HCC can also benefit from.
During the recent COVID 19 outbreak the Multipurpose Hall has been converted to a field hospital to
assist with COVID-19 patients.
However, Chairman Ngati said the MHMS and the Over Sight Committee need to have proper dialogue with HCC to find avenues in which HCC can benefit to assist with it’s revenues.
“HCC provides services to the City and lately with the COVID pandemic and recent riot, it has affected HCC’s revenues.
“I call for a dialogue and agreement with the Ministry of Health and Over Sight Committee in which an incentive has to be given to HCC for the use of it’s Multipurpose Hall facilities,” he said.
Ngati added that if no agreement is reached, an option would be to charge patients for using all medical services provided by HCC clinics.
“This is to assist with revenue collection for HCC to maintain it’s services,” he said.
Chairman Ngati said he will be bringing this matter to his Standing Committee and further up to HCC Executive.
