MORE has come out from Premier Daniel Suidani’s private awareness campaign during his tour of the southern region last weekend.
The visit was Premier Suidani’s first to the Southern Region since he took office about two years ago.
It began at Foulofo in East Are’Are and covered the entire Southern region all the way to West Are’Are on the West coast of Malaita. He is reportedly planning to contest the East Fataleka Constituency in next year’s national general election.
Premier Suidani is due back in Auki today (Wednesday).
According to those who attended the “private awareness campaign”, Premier Suidani focused on the security pact Solomon Islands and China have signed. In his talks, he reportedly highlighted the following points:
- The deal is not safe for Solomon Islands in the long run because it will enable PRC to build its intel network in this country;
- This deal is for the Prime Minister’s personal interest and not in the best interest of Solomon Islands;
- The deal is mainly to protect Chinese businesses, investments and assets in Solomon Islands and not to protect Solomon Islands’ business interests; and
- This deal is to fight against Malaitan interests to develop their own resources
Those who attended the private awareness campaign said the Premier was careful about mixing his private awareness campaign with his official engagements.
At Manawai village south of Foulofo in East Are’Are, Premier Suidani handed over a new market to the people there before travelling to Honoa, where the provincial government is planning to build a government substation.
The Premier and his delegation spent Saturday night at Hautahe village, where he acknowledged the community for helping the community school there.
