Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Maelanga has welcomed home the Solomon Islands U-19 and Senior national teams last night during a welcome dinner hosted by Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) at the Coral Sea Resort and Casino.
Hon. Maelanga who is the guest of honour welcomed back both teams on behalf of the government and people of Solomon Islands.
He stressed that the government is proud of the national team’s efforts at the international tournaments despite falling short off reaching the finals at the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup in Vanuatu and OFC U-19 Championship in Tahiti.
The acting Prime Minister assured SIFF that the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to support football and sports in the country.
SIFF President, William Lai shared the same sentiments encouraging the players and coaches to move on and rethink of how to do better in future competitions.
Among other special guests in attendance were Minister of Education, Hon. Lanelle Olandrea Tanangada, Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration Hon. Frederick Kologeto.
SIFF presented a replica of the national team football jersey to all the guests.
