Win Win boss charged for intimidation
THE National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have charged the General Manager of Win Win Mining Company with two counts of intimidation, a statement from the RSIPF Media said.
The charges were laid after a search warrant was conducted for a replica firearm at the Win Win area at Alligator Creek and Turarana where the company operates.
Initial police reports revealed that on 1 April 2022, some landowners called in at Win Win Company to seek advance payment for the purpose of purchasing goods for the mourning ceremony for one of their relatives.
All of a sudden, the General Manager appeared with a replica gun and intimidated the landowners as he was not happy with one of the landowners.
The General Manager was released on bail condition and will appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 31 October 2022.
The replica gun is now with police and is subject to investigation as to how it entered the country as it is not one of those replica guns that came into the country for police training, the RSIPF Media statement said.
The RSIPF statement meanwhile said the Island Sun report stating that the RSIPF engagement with Win Win management did not happen until after the police search was conducted on 14 October 2022 was incorrect.
It said the engagement programme occurred on 9 October 2022.
Police arrest duo for illegal beer sale
ROYAL Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Central Police Station arrested two suspects for the allegation of illegal sale of beers in Honiara last week.
The arrest occurred on Friday after police received information from the community about illegal sale of beers at Balance canteen (Borderline area) in Honiara.
A total of 18 cartons of beer has been confiscated and kept as police exhibit till court gives orders to dispose of it.
Both suspects were arrested and placed in police custody. The owner of the canteen was charged for sale of liquor without license, Contrary to Section 59 (1) (a) Liquor Act while the sale’s person was charged for sale of liquor without license, Contrary to Section 57 (1) (a) Liquor Act.
Both suspects were released on principal bail to appear before Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on Sunday next week.
