PARLIAMENT will resume today to look into the 2023 National Budget – 2023 Appropriation Bill 2022- after a special adjournment was made by the Prime Minister on the 7th of this month.
Prime Minister Sogavare has moved a special adjournment motion to allow ample time for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to carry out its mandated task of scrutinising the national budget.
Another reason that the Prime Minister gave for the special adjournment was to allow a number of Government ministers and officials to travel to Egypt for the United Nations Climate Summit (COP27).
The Minister of Finance and Treasury, Harry Kuma is expected to table the 2023 Appropriation Bill 2022 at the Second Reading State at this sitting and the debate on this bill may take two to three weeks.
