Five people are recovering at the Kilu’ufi Hospital while the driver was arrested following an early morning accident at Ambu community near Auki.
According to Auki Police, the accident occurred around 6am on Saturday when fully loaded passenger truck veered off the road at Ambu.
The truck is a regular transport provider along the South Road.
While the accident has resulted in no deaths so far, it was confirmed that five passengers who sustained injuries in the accident are now admitted at Kilu’ufi Hospital.
Of those who admitted at Kilu’ufi Hospital, reports reaching this paper claimed one teenager boy is seriously injured and is in critical condition.
According to police, the driver was under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident.
The driver since then was arrested and put behind bars as police continued with its investigation into the accident.
The accident was the third recorded in Malaita Province within a span of a month which prompt police to call on drivers to think safety first when driving.
