THE new premier of Western Province Billy Veo has told his executive to start work immediately and not to waste time.
Mr Veo’s provincial executive totals to 14 MPAs, who took their oath at the Assembly Chamber in the Western Provincial capital Gizo on Tuesday.
Mr Veo said the province has been without a government for more than six months.
However, he said now that a government is “in place” the executive members must start work immediately.
He added that a policy statement should be ready in the next 100 days and he will work hard to achieve this.
Western Province deputy provincial secretary Patrick Toiraena welcomed the new premier and his executive with a promise that the provincial administration will work closely with the new provincial government.
Meanwhile, the provincial assembly is expected is form a the Provincial Public Accounts Committee (PPAC) soon to start looking into a new proposed budget for 2023/2024 which the provincial government hoped to deliberate on in March this year.
