The MARA government still has the number to rule despite numerous reports about the likely fall of Premier Suidani and MARA government.
Speaking to Solomon Star Auki today (20th January 2023) Premier Suidani confirmed that his MARA government is still rock solid a majority of 17 MPAs on their side.
Premier Suidani said some of the MARA executive members did not attend the first day of the meeting due to the fact that some are busy with funerals following deaths in their respective families.
The Premier said those ministers have now arrived in Auki for the budget meeting which he claimed was adjourned prematurely with a quick vote carried out after the budget speech with the purpose to fail the budget.
Asked about the reports of a likely resignation of two ministers within the MARA executive, Premier Suidani said so far no minister has tendered his resignation from the MARA Government.
In the meantime, the non-executive believed they have the number which gave them the numerical strength to run the government with only five months left before the current government dissolves in June this year.
According to an inside source, non-executive has count on two of their former members who are currently under the MARA government; Joe Heroau and Alick Ofo Ofo.
Sources from the non-executive claimed that the two newly elected MPA for Ward 18 and Ward 28 are with the non-executive.
This paper was informed that, should the two minister within the MARA Government tendered their resignation; they are most likely to be replaced by the two new MPAs representing Ward 18 and Ward 28.
According to those in the know, the final attempt to get rid of Premier Suidani and the MARA government is now at play starting with the failing of the budget this week.
