A 20-year-old boy from Isabel Province was stabbed in a public bus along the Mbokonavera-Skyline Road on his way back home from the market on Thursday evening.
This was revealed by a medical doctor from Isabel Province, Dr Pedical Togamana, who called on all the Isabel youths to take extra precautionary measures when going out or while taking public transport.
He said the boy was sitting next to the window when he got stabbed in his chest from outside the bus and had his phone stolen.
“It was fortunate that the chest injury was not that serious and thank God for his protection,” Dr Togamana said.
He said the boy was in hospital yesterday and was discharged today, adding that it was fortunate he survived the attack.
“It’s advisable not to use your phone when sitting close to the window when you are traveling on public or private transport.
“Street thieves locally known as Beliga’s are making use of the issue of potholed roads and vehicle slowdowns to steal through car windows or simply by opening car doors to remove bags or valuable items,” Dr Togamana said.
He warns all youths and all citizens in general to simply lock vehicle doors and windup windows and also not to browse mobile phones while traveling as mobile phones are baits for a theft attack.
“It was confirmed that the suspect has been identified by police and an arrest is imminent,” one informant said.
