Eight more organisations in Malaita Province will today receive grants under the Winrock Forest Development Fund (FDF) in Auki.
This was confirmed by Winrock Office in Auki.
These eight organisations will be the second lot that will be benefiting under the FDF. The first four groups received following their grants under FDF in December last year.
The grant signing ceremony is scheduled to take place this afternoon at the Bahai Conference Centre in the Malaita Provincial capital.
This second group of FDF recipients are the Faganiwadalena Rural Farmers Association, Waneagu Sulanasina Youth Network Association, Alisuri Sustainable Livelihoods Association (ASLA), TPU Honey Farmers, Tookina tribal land conservation association, Asitolo association Gwa’abuki Conservation Network and Efo-Fuluma.
The first four recipients were Afutara Rural Training Centre (RTC) in West Kwaio Constituency, Airahu Rural Training Centre (RTC) in West Kwara’ae Constituency, Takataka Eco Village Conservation Foundation and Ahataha Water Conservation Association (AWCA).
According to SCALE-NRM, the overall objective of the FDF is to catalyse community and private sector-led engagement in improving the economic benefits derived from sustainable natural source management and biodiversity conservation efforts to households.
