SOLOMON Islands Mission (SIM) of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has launched ‘I will go to my neighbour’ in a weekend combined service at Maranatha Hall East Honiara.
This year’s emphasis is that all SDA church members are commissioned to go to their neighbour to preach the gospel of the three angels’ messages to the neighbours in their neighbourhoods.
In his video message from New Zealand, the Trans-Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) President Pastor Maveni Kaufononga said “this year our emphasis is that we are going to our neighbours.
Why is it that we will go to our neighbours?
He said you can’t love your neighbours without going to them.
When explaining his point of presentation, he shares the story of a lawyer who asked Jesus about the greatest commands in God’s commandment.
“Then Jesus replied the lawyer that you must love the Lord your God with all you soul, with all your heart and with your entire mind and second is likened to the first which loves your neighbour as you love yourselves,” he said as he paraphrased the story.
This short story picture has given importance for all SDA members to go to their neighbours to share the gospel of the soon return of Jesus.
Pr. Kaufononga encouraged all members in TPU to go out to their neighbours.
“…maybe just go out and visit them and have some conversation or have a prayer with them or invite them to your home for a meal or invite them to your local church but we are to go to our neighbours,” he said in the video shared by the Solomon Islands Hope Channel.
The ‘I will go to my neighbours’ emphasis also includes praying, cleaning, exercise and sharing the word of God.
The emphasis aligned with the World Church theme ‘I will Go’ but was narrowed down to ‘I will go to my neighbour.’
After the launching on Saturday (Sabbath), all church members joined the cleaning-up campaign yesterday in the street of Honiara.
The mission of the SDA is to make disciples for Jesus Christ who lives as the loving witnesses and to proclaim to all people the everlasting gospel of the three angels’ messages in preparation for Jesus’ soon return.
