FORMER President of the Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church formally congratulates the new SIM President and General Secretary (GS) over the weekend.
This was during the launching of the ‘I Will Go To My Neighbour’ initiative at the Maranatha Hall in East Honiara.
Dr Silent Tovosia retired last year and was replaced by Pr David Filo as President and Pr Clifton Mark as General Secretary.
Pr Filo used to be the General Secretary when Dr Tovosia was the president.
And Pr Mark used to be the regional director for the Western Sub-Region Office based in Kukudu on Kolombangara, Western Province. He is now being replaced by Pr Frazer Reuben.
Last year Dr Tovosia decided to resign and this had left the position vacant.
As a result, following an executive meeting held by the Trans Pacific Union (TPU) based in Suva, Fiji, the appointments were made and formally announced late last year.
Over the weekend, Pr Silent offered a dedicatory prayer to all the church ministers, pastors, district directors and departmental heads.
The offertory pray was to seek God’s guidance, leading and blessing for the church workers to support the implementation of the ‘I Will Go To My Neighbour’ initiative.
The outreach program is geared towards winning souls for Christ before His soon return.
The target of this program is for people within the neighbourhoods.
Before saying the prayer, Dr Tovosia, took time to congratulate the two top church officials.
“I wish to congratulate the new SIM President David Filo and Pr Clifton Mark as the new general secretary,” he said.
He also appealed to members of the church to support the SIM Executive as they continue to discharge their duties.
Meanwhile, a farewell ceremony was held for Dr Tovosia over the weekend in Honiara which marks his official retirement.
