SOLOMON Islands’ very own DMP and Onetox are now in Papua New Guinea (PNG) ahead of the Solwara Papua New Guinea Reggae Tour.
The musicians landed in PNG’s capital Port Moresby on Sunday and their first gig will be on Friday this week at the Cosmopolitan.
In a recent statement, the boys said they are ready to “turn it up” with Niugini Ice Show this coming Friday.
Tickets for the Friday show have sold out days before the artists flew into Port Moresby.
In Port Moresby the group took the opportunity to meet with Solomon Islands High Commissioner to PNG His Excellency William Soaki at the Waigani Embassy.
His Excellency Soaki said he was excited to meet the boys and listen to their testimonies and experiences as musicians.
He said the boys had a lot of experience in the music industry and he was pleased to host these Solomon Islands music artists and ambassadors.
“It was a rare but valued opportunity to share with the boys and listen to their experiences in the music industry, some of the latest Solo jokes and humour to enjoy sometimes of laughter,” Mr Soaki said in a recent statement.
He also congratulated them on their ongoing collaborations with regional and international artists which had elevated Solomon Islands music to new standing internationally.
The artists who met with Mr Soaki are Dehvande, Arak, Taina Gee, Mossa and Evin Rush.
Their next show after Friday’s gig will be on Saturday 11th March in Lae.
DMP and Onetox songs are big hits in PNG and across the Oceania.
The tour to PNG is being organised by Makasi Sounds & Entertainment.
