SECURITY personnel of the Coast Watcher Security and Investigation Service (CWSIS) have beef up security at the Honiara Central Market.
They deployed their first shift to provide public order service at the Central Market as of yesterday.
CWSIS was engaged to provide security and public order service at the Honiara Central market after winning the bid.
Without wasting their time, CWSIS deployed ten security personnel for the day shift and six security personnel for the night shift on the first day of deployment.
This is for the CWSIS management to identify a good number of its security personnel that maybe capable of providing security and public order services at the HCM.
Upon winning the bid to provide security and public order service at the HCM, CWSIS will be responsible for providing security and public order on market properties.
Speaking to this paper in an interview, Mr. Paterson Toli, an ordinary market vendor, said this initiative between HCC and CWSIS to provide security at the HCM is a good idea to ensure safety of the market goers, products and properties.
“Over the past years and months, sometimes drunken men have entered the market and harassed us while buying our markets, and even disturbed us, but now that the CWSIS has provided security and public order service here, we are now feeling safe and comfortable”, Toli said.
“And even those who are thinking of sleeping in the market for the next day to continue marketing their products may feel safe and comfortable because the securities are there to provide public orders over the market properties”, Toli concluded.
Meanwhile, today will be the second day of the CWSIS operation to provide security and public order service at the central market.
