GOVERNMENT support to Solomon Islands National University (SINU) through a partnership is vital for the future of the university.
That’s according to the Vice Chancellor (VC), Dr Transform Aqorau when speaking at the 10th anniversary of the university on Tuesday.
He said government support is critical in order for SINU to provide quality education and research.
“The government must also work to attract qualified faculty members to the university and create an environment that encourages research and innovation.
“I believe the partnerships between ourselves, industries, other universities and governments is essential to the success of any university and SINU is no exception.
“We must work hard both locally and internationally to share our knowledge and resources.
“And these partnerships can help the university to improve its programmes, attract more students and expand the research capabilities,” VC Professor Aqorau said.
The VC also took time to express his gratitude to the faculty, staff and students of the university for their hard work and dedication over the past decade and especially those who gave their time and effort during its formative years.
“The university has come a long way since its inception. And we are confident that we will continue to grow and thrive in the years to come.
“Thank you most sincerely from the bottom of my heart to all of you for being here and I do hope that you enjoy the celebration,” he said.
The anniversary coincided with the university’s open day.
