THE 2023 Telekom S-league (TSL) season has kicked off at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara over the weekend.
The start of the season was marked with six matches.
TSL defending champions Solomon Warriors FC got off to a positive start with a 4-3 win over a young and determined Southern United FC side in yesterday’s opening match.
The win however did not come easy for Warriors as they were put to a tough test in the second half when United came from three goals down to equalize.
Tigi Molea paved way for Warriors with the early goal, which was followed by Junior Aengari’s penalty at the half hour mark and Jaygray Sipakana’s 46th minute goal.
With pace and consistency, Southern United fought back scoring three goals, all scored by John Orobulu for the season’s first hat trick.
Warriors found the way out by Alvin Hou to make it 4-3 just four minutes before full time.
The second match saw Marist and Honiara City FC share a point each following their 2-2 draw.
Marist also had to come from behind to level the score.
Saturday’s final match saw Waneagu United FC beat last season’s runner-ups KOSSA FC 2-0 to lead the current TSL table.
Yesterday’s matches saw newcomers SOSA FC beat Real Kakamora FC 4-2, Henderson Eels FC defeated FC Juniper 3-0 and Central Coast FC beat Laugu United FC 2-1.
