SOLOMON Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Super Futsal League coaches had an interactive session with national futsal head coach Damon Shaw at the SIFF Conference Room last week.
This was a unique opportunity for the league coaches to share mutual knowledge – fully backing the national team tasks ahead through improved national league competition.
Coach Shaw shared his vision of taking futsal a step further into the world stages and providing a learning experience for coaches’ professional development.
He told the coaches of his initial plans and targets to achieve, building a road map for working together achieving national goals.
“Our number one priority is to win the OFC Nations Cup and qualify for the World Cup,” Shaw said.
“I want to develop the Kurukuru DNA and style of play that can win and compete against the top 20 nations in futsal.
Through the league, he said,” I want to see increased participation at all age groups to grow the pool of players for the national A teams.”
An improved national league where national players are playing and training regularly.
Educate coaches and improve clubs during the duration of the league proper.
Coach Shaw also wanted to develop a scouting network for players in the provinces.
The coaches also learn of the management football competition system Comet, for matchday operations, registrations, discipline, refereeing, and other football-related matter.
A technical meeting was also conducted by the SIFF competition department reminding clubs of the guidelines.
Meanwhile, round 1 of fixtures is set to kick-start the 2023 season tomorrow, Saturday 29th April at the Friendship Hall.
