THE Auki Capital League 2023 started over the weekend at the Aligegeo Stadium with big wins for Central United FC and Southsiders FC.
Eight teams in total are participating in the league; Central United FC, Southsiders FC, AG Fiu FC, Midwest United FC, Real Ravens FC, Aoke FC, GB United FC and Wale’s FC.
Four matches in total were played on the opening day of the league on Saturday.
In the first game Central United FC showed no mercy for Midwest FC with a 5-0 victory to open its league campaign on a positive note.
In the second game, Aoke FC and Real Ravens shared the spoils with a nil all draw.
The third game saw Southsiders FC kick off their campaign with an impressive 5-1 victory over AG Fiu FC.
The final game of the day between Wale’s FC and GB FC ended with 2-2 to share points in their first league encounter.
The Auki Capital League also featured players who are former national soccer players, former TSL players, and former Malaita Eagle players.
According to the Malaita Football Association (MFA) President Timmy Afia, the Auki Capital League is not the only footballing activity organized by MPA this month.
Afia said besides the Auki Capital League, MFA also organized Under 14 League and Under 16 Futsal League.
The Auki Capital League league is expected to end towards the end of July.
Afia thanked all football clubs, their team management and coaching staff for taking part in the organized football leagues.
The MFA President wished them the best and urged them to display the spirit of sportsmanship during the course of the organized football tournaments.
