On 25th June, this day will be celebrated and the nation will learn from the Solomon Islands seafarers.
“As assured by our very own Prime Minister in his letter of apology, the government fully supports the SI seafarers and maritime shipping industry, in general, and would always be considered as one of the Government’s key priorities,” he said.
He added that the celebration was to thank the seafarers and acknowledge the seafarers invaluable contribution to the country, society, communities and wellbeing of people.
He said without this day seafarers will be overlooked, unnoticed and unappreciated.
Solomon Islands Maritime School hosted this event to recognise the contribution seafarers gave to many lives of people in this country.
