THE few changes to the final list for the national Futsal team, Kurukuru for the PacificAus Sports International Futsal Series 2023 is aimed at giving all players a chance to play.
This was revealed by the Solomon Islands national Futsal team coach, Damon Shaw when responding to questions asked on why some players are being left out in the final squad for the PacificAus Sports International Futsal Series.
“I took some players to Vietnam that hasn’t gone to Fiji because it’s important to give everyone a chance, that’s the reason for the changes made to the squad.
“They’ve all had the chance to impress, even now these players they‘ve got to perform
“This is a key moment for us now because we’ve got to finalize the squad a little bit for the OFC competition
“If players don’t perform in Australia, we’ve got players waiting to take their place, it’s unfortunate but we can only take 14 players,” he told the media yesterday.
Shaw understands Australia is way higher in terms of ranking but remains confident Kurukuru will compete against the Futsalroos.
“Australia is ranked 37th in the world and they have good talents, but we will focus more on our game and hopefully improve by each game.
“I’m not expecting to win all three games but looking forward for the boys step up a little bit because I know they can,” he added.
The Kurukuru team will play three international friendly matches against the Futsalroos.
They will leave for Australia today.
