THE Malaita Provincial Government (MPG) is still operating without the service of the newly appointed Provincial Secretary (PS).
This was revealed by the Malaita Provincial Premier Martin Fini.
Mr Fini said MPG needs the service of the new PS to strengthen its administration.
Premier Fini said at the moment his government is not aware of when the new PS will resume his duty with MPG.
He said the service of the new PS is desperately needed so that the MPG administration could be back in full strength.
At the moment the MPG administration is only being looked after by the Deputy Provincial Secretary David Filia.
“Having a full strength administration will be an advantage for MPG should the responsible ministry quickly releases the newly appointed PS to resume his duty,” he said.
In the meantime, Premier Fini said his government is looking forward to seeing the new PS take up his role in the province.
The new PS for Malaita is a Malaitan by the name of George Eric who was the former Deputy Secretary (Technical) at the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration (MCILI).
PS Eric was appointed back in June but is yet to resume duty in Malaita.
Premier Fini wants his government to operate under the service of the PS and DPS before its term in office lapses.
