Overnight, Australia supported 65 Solomon Islands nationals to leave Israel on a flight from Tel Aviv to Dubai alongside Australians, their families and citizens from partner nations including other Pacific Island Countries. The group is on their way home from Dubai and will travel this evening on an Australian government assisted departure flight.
“Australia is pleased to support Solomon Islands nationals in a time of need,” His Excellency Rod Hilton, Australian High Commissioner, said today. “The situation in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories is highly challenging and rapidly changing, and the best place to be is back home with loved ones.”
Mr Hilton added, “We acknowledge the Solomon Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade for its close cooperation on this challenging process.”
Australia will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade to provide support to Solomon Islands citizens through the crisis as it unfolds in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
