AS the country counts down to hosting the 17th Pacific Games in Honiara, clinics continue to put notices outside their doors informing the sick of the list of drugs that are out of stock.
Some of the drugs that the clinics don’t have in stock are Co-trimoxazol, Amoxicillin, Cloxacillin, Metronidazole, Primaquine, Indomethacin, Nystatin, Ibuprofen and Zinc.
According to the clinics many of these drugs have been out of stock since October 16th 2023.
The issue with shortage of drugs and medical accessories has been a topic of discussion in the country throughout the year as the National Government shift its priority to the Pacific Games.
Meanwhile, with the renovation work at the National Referral Hospital all outpatient services are now provided at the clinics.
The clinics will continue providing outpatient services until after the games. At Rove Clinic some of its health services are suspended until next year.
