AMIDST the busy schedule of Pacific Games 2023, a church group is also busy sharing God’s word to others.
Pastor Andrew Solomon is a young Pastor for the Soul Winner ministry that offers free counselling to people along the streets of Honiara.
It operates under Pacific Islands Evangelical & Ministry network Solomon Islands.
The young Pastor from Evangelism Prayer Ministry is working with a team of Counsellors.
And he has shared his excitement towards the Sol2023.
Hailed from Malaita province he was very excited to be part of Sol2023.
He sees the opportunity to also share God’s word with our athletes and other people from Pacific islands who are in the country.
“The Pacific Games is indeed a great privilege for us to share with the people from other countries such as Tonga, Tahiti, Cook Islands and others.”
Their stall is located at the SINU Panatina Festival Village for the duration of the two weeks event.
At the stall they have their devotions each day and offers counselling to both young and old age people.
The young pastor appreciates the Government of Solomon’ islands for supporting and organising the sports event in Honiara.
This is because it had given the country to host the sports event so that the country can benefit from it.
For his ministry, its a chance to come out and share the good news about Jesus.
Pastor Andrew also acknowledges the Games Organising Committee (GOC) and also to the Solomon Islands national University for allowing them to setup their stall to share the Good News.
While other stalls have paid fees to set up and do business there, they were offered a free space which is a blessing to them, he added.
As part of the ministry they offer counselling to people who have issues and problems related to their marriage and social life.
But most of all to share about the good news of Jesus.
He said, recently they offered counselling to two newly married couple but they didn’t trust and love each other.
At the counselling service the couple was supported through advise on how they can trust each other in their married life.
“If you want a happy family you must have Jesus in your life because the moment you have Jesus there will be love which will lead to a happy family. That’s the secret,” he said.
He also shared a story of a youth who has mental issue and was ignored by his family.
But after undergoing counselling, his life is now changed after he accepted the Lord in his life.
Pastor Andrew said, there are many challenges our people are facing these.
But the solution is to have the Lord as their Savour in their lives.
He said, when they share God’s word with others some have asked them what church they are from.
“Despite coming from different church we all serve one God,” said the pastor.
For those passing through the FOPA village, he encourages them to visit their ministry’s stall.
