Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele MP has received the visiting Australia’s Minister of Defense Industry and Capability Delivery, Minister for International Development and the Pacific Honourable Pat Conroy on Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Amongst important areas of cooperation discussed, PM Manele and Minister Conroy talked extensively about the government’s policy to increase the manpower of the Royal Solomon Islands Police from 1,500 to 3,000 by 2028 and to 5,000 by 2032.
PM Manele and Minister Conroy also discussed areas of mutual interests such as agriculture, fisheries, forestry, telecommunication, renewable energy and investments in the areas of education and health.
Minister Conroy arrived in Honiara on Wednesday around lunch time.
He is accompanied by senior government officials from Australia’s government.
