In a landmark initiative, the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Honiara Constituency Morris Toiraena has organized his first-ever official meeting with Honiara City Council (HCC) Councilors representing the wards within his constituency.
The interchange of ideas between the leaders was held on Friday 20th September 2024, at the Advance Technology Limited Head Office.
This was seen as a significant step towards fostering stronger collaboration between national and municipal representatives for the betterment of East Honiara.
During the meeting, MP Toiraena expressed his commitment to working closely with the HCC Councilors to address the pressing issues faced by residents in East Honiara.
These included concerns about infrastructure development, sanitation, waste management, and improving social services such as healthcare and education.
He emphasized that these challenges could only be effectively tackled through a coordinated approach between his office and the local Councilors.
Councilors present also voiced their concerns and shared feedback on the needs of their respective wards.
The Councilors appreciated the initiative taken by MP Toiraena to engage with them directly, noting that such dialogue is crucial for aligning development plans and ensuring resources are directed where they are needed most.
MP Toiraena further assured the Councilors of his support in advocating for their priorities at the national level, promising to make regular meetings a feature of his leadership moving forward.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties agreeing to collaborate on several key projects to improve the living standards in East Honiara.
