LEADER of Opposition Matthew Wale says the Auditor General’s Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) report is an indictment on the DCGA government and its reckless handling of the scheme.
In a statement Wednesday Wale said, any government half as competent should have known about the abuse of public funds under the ESP.
He said it is beyond belief for any member of the former DCGA to claim they did not know what was going on with the ESP.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Aoke Langalanga said the ESP scheme was managed under the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Finance & Treasury.
“The RSIPF must seek support from its Australian partners for forensic financial investigators.
JANUS has lost its credibility simply because it is controlled by the PS Finance and therefore should not come anywhere near the ESP investigations by RSIPF,” he said.
The Opposition Leader reiterated that the public must keep a close eye on RSIPF investigations to ensure they are not corrupted and dragged out unnecessarily.
“This is an issue that was recklessly handled by the former DCGA and the public must keep a close tab on the progress of the investigations,” MP Wale reiterated.
