SMASH Down Barriers (SDB) Table Tennis, a program targeting people with disability has introduced a Coach of the Month Award to recognize its coaches for their hard work and dedication in rolling out the program and the first recipient of this award is Rodney Satini.
Honiara Table Tennis Association (HTTA) is the active association that partners with the SDB to roll out the program to communities and schools in Honiara.
As part of the program rollout, SDB has taken the step to recognize its local coaches for their hard work and commitment to making sure the program reaches local communities and schools.
On Friday 25 October, SDB successfully held its weekly meeting with its Sport Development Officers (SDOs) to reflect and plan for their rollout sessions. This weekly meeting coincided with the announcement of the first ever recipient of the Coach of the Month Award.
The first Coach of the Month Award winner is Rodney Satini, who is also a SDB Sports Development Officer.
Satini told Star Sports in an interview after receiving his award certificate that he was very happy to be recognized as the Coach of the Month and the first ever recipient of this award.
He said since he started working with the SDB, he always helped in rolling out the program to communities and schools.
“Since I started with Smash Down Barriers as a Sport Development Officer, I always attended all our program rollout sessions in communities and schools in Honiara because I have the passion for this program and at the same time, I am a Para athlete in table tennis.
“So, to be recognized as the Coach of the Month is something that I am super proud of and this Certificate of Recognition will further motivate me to keep working hard and to be always willing to team up with the SBD staff in rolling out the program,” Satini said.
Satini thanked the SDB for recognizing his efforts with them and said he hopes to continue doing what he loves.
