The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have conducted Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs) operations at Munda and Kolombangara in Western Province recently.
EODD Supervising Director Staff Sergeant Ansa Puaraua said, “the ten days operation is a success in which EODD experts destroyed more than 250 UXO’s from the communities.”
Director Puaraua said, the communities are contaminated with UXOs.
“Please work together with EODD to ensure the operation area is safe.
“UXOs are remnants of the past conflicts which continue to pose significant risks to the safety and well-being of individuals at the affected areas in the Solomon Islands.”
EODD commend communities for their support during this operation and appeal for continued support to assist in reporting any sighted UXO’s to your nearest police station or call 7495215.
