THE European Union’s Ambassador to the Pacific, Barbara Plinkert was due to arrive in Honiara on Friday to present her credentials to the Governor General Reverend David Tiva Kapu, the EU Suva Office announced on Wednesday 30 October.
The visit is said to be Ambassador Plinkert’s first to the region.
Following the ceremony at Government House, she will meet with senior members of the government and partners, launch an EU-funded project as well as visit some EU-funded projects in Solomon Islands, according to a statement from the Suva office.
Ms Plinkert has served as the EU’s Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific since 2023 replacing Sujiro Seam. Prior to her appointment, she headed the European External Action Service (EEAS) Southeast Asia Division based in Brussels, Belgium.
