The Minister for Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) Franklyn Derek Wasi has launched the Coconut and Cocoa Revolving Scheme (CCRS) in Honiara last week.
The launching took place during the commemoration of World Food Day in Honiara.
Minister Wasi said, cocoa and coconut revolving fund has been designed to provide targeted financial support to register cocoa and coconut buyers’ traders and farmers in our provinces.
He said the community plays a vital role on cocoa and coconut value chain in which the funds will offer them resources needed to strive operational costs to essentials tools equipment for cocoa and coconut
“This including supporting formatting and drying improvement, the funds are committed to enhancing beans quality to meet global export standard,” he said.
He said this fund is more than financial tools it is a bridge to global market and enabling indigenous businesses to accessing international demand and showcases
“This initiate aligns closely with our national development strategy 2016 to 2035 under the agriculture growth and investor sector plans 2021 to 2030.
“Both framework emphases reboot agricultural sector in driving sustainable development,” he said.
He encouraged eligible cocoa and coconut farmers and, businesses to see this power engage without application process and take full advantages of what the CCRS fund process funds has offer.
