AFTER weeks of disruption, the radiography service at the Gizo Hospital in Western Province is back in service much to the relief of patients in need of this service.
As of this week, patients requiring the service are now able to be served.
A mother, who missed out on a trip last week to undergo x-ray at Helena Goldie Hospital in Munda, was able to undergo x-ray at the Gizo Hospital on Tuesday.
She had fractured toes and waited for about two weeks.
She told Solomon Star that the resumption of the x-ray service is a relief to her and many other patients requiring the service.
A young child traveling all the way from Choiseul requiring x-ray due to possible fractured leg was forced to wait until this week.
The machine has been out of service for weeks due to technical issues and this forced the X-ray Department of Gizo Hospital to organise weekly trips to Munda for patients to under x-ray screening at the Helena Goldie Hospital.
An officer from the radiology department normally accompanies the patients on such trips.
However, at times the trips were delayed or cancelled due to lack of fuel.
But with the support from the ministry of health, the required part was procured allowing service to be restored.
