ONE year on following the successful staging of the Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Correctional Services of Solomon Island (CSSI) have received the Sol2023 Pacific Games medal and Commissioner commendation.
This was during a presentation ceremony at Rove on November 19, 2024.
The Sol2023 Games commenced exactly one year from 19th November to December 2, 2023.
Police Response Department (PRD) of RSIPF and Emergency Response Group of CSSI received their the recognition for their professional delivery for a safe, peaceful, and successful Sol2023 Pacific Games.
A total of one hundred and sixty-seven officers were recognised for their commitment and dedication for the exceptional work that has been done during the Games last year.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operation Evelyn Thugea, during the presentation ceremony said, “it was your dedication and commitment that we have witnessed a crime-free event during the Sol2023 Pacific Games.”
AC Thugea said the riot in 2021 put the nation down in terms of security for the country, while the Sol2023 Pacific Games offered a good reputation that most of the Pacific countries appreciate the officers for the well-done job.
“We worked tirelessly during the event, staying away from our families, sleepless nights, an abnormal eating pattern due to the nature of our work or eating when food is available, and stress situations because multiple events happened at the same time at different locations. These are the challenging situations we have been sacrificing through to make this event a peaceful one,” said AC Thugea.
AC Thugea encourages all to be determined and strive for excellence in what they do to maintain the integrity of both agencies.
“Wish to remind you all to continue serving as a professional officer in our community.”
CSSI Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operation, Mr. Michael Nangu, in his brief remarks at the presentation ceremony, thanked the officers for the marvellous job well done during the Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
“On behalf of the Commissioner of Correctional Services and CSSI Executive, I would like to congratulate both PRD and ERG officers for the tireless effort rendered to make the event a successful one. CSSI will continue to support the RSIPF in any future operational arrangement,” said DC Nangu.
