The Solomon Islands National University Students’ Association (SINUSA) has issued a public appeal to support Vanuatu students currently studying at the University.
In a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, the Students Association appeals to students, staff, and the general public to assist our fellow students from Vanuatu, who remain in Honiara.
It was revealed most of them are cut off from their families due to the lack of communication following the recent devastating earthquake in Vanuatu.
“Adding to their challenges, the means of transferring money from their families in Vanuatu to them here in Honiara is currently impossible, leaving them without critical financial support for basic needs.
“The earthquake, which has caused immense loss and disruption, has left our Ni-Vanuatu brothers and sisters distressed and anxious about the safety and well-being of their loved ones. Far from home, they are in urgent need of assistance,” the statement said.
SINUSA has encourage everyone to contribute in any way they can. The assistance can make a significant difference.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Provide Basic Needs: Donations of food, clothing, and essential supplies are highly appreciated.
2. Financial Contributions: Direct contributions to help them with daily expenses.
3. Offer Emotional Support: Spend time with the students, offering comfort and encouragement.
4. Spread Awareness: Share this message to reach others who can also assist.
