THE outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, MIWA Yoshiaki has commended Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) and people of Solomon Islands for the harmonious bilateral relations Japan enjoys with Solomon Islands.
In brief courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Manele, Ambassador Miwa highlighted the strong and enduring friendship between the two nations.
He reassured the Prime Minister that going forward, Japan’s focus will be on flagship projects such as the Bina Harbour Project, National Malaria Control Programme, Food Security, Unexploded Ordnance Clearance, Education Support and Agriculture.
PM Manele expressed appreciation for the partnership between Solomon Islands and Japan, which he said is rooted in history.
He said the government and people of Solomon Islands acknowledge Ambassador Miwa’s contribution to the SI- Japan relations.
Under Ambassador Miwa’s watch, the SI-Japan partnership experienced deep bonds and steady progress.
PM Manele also acknowledged Japan’s ongoing assistance in Fisheries, Agriculture, Economy, Trade, Culture, Private Sector and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearance.
He said Solomon Islands also values the various scholarship opportunities available for young Solomon Islands men and women to study in Japan.
The PM affirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with the incoming ambassador to ensure the continuation of strong, collaborative relations between the two countries.
