ON Wednesday night, six community zones in Ughele village closed their New Year 2025 festive season celebrations with a feast in each of the community zones.
These community zones are Elomana, Buruku 1, Buruku 2, Kobi 1, Kobi 2, and a newly formed community zone called DDPJ.
The Bagho Community in the far east of Ughele held a separate programme, closing their festive season celebrations with a feast.
A statement reaching Solomon Star said on Wednesday night all Christmas and New Year 2025 celebrations came to a close.
The community zone was filled with laughter, excitement and reflection as people in each community zone looked back on the celebration activities they had in the New Year.
These parties mark the departure of working-class people and students to their workplaces and schools as the 2025 academic year will start soon.
The Member of Parliament for South New Georgia Rendova and Tetepare (SNR&T) Constituency, David Gina gave out funds to each community zone to close their New Year festive season activities.
The funds were used to purchase food and fuel for fishing for the closing feast for each zone.
During the New Year’s Day, MP Gina was invited to join the New Year 2025 celebration in Ughele.
He was accompanied a delegation, including by his Constituency Development Officer Douglas Alex.
MP Gina opened the New Year celebration and it was closed by feasting in each zone.
While celebrating the New Year at Ughele, MP Gina was welcomed by women from each zone who were dressed in their respective zone uniforms and banners
MP Gina and his delegation toured the constituency and gave out small funds for Christmas and New Year.
According to my source, each zone in Ughele received $3,000 each for their Christmas and New Year celebration activities.
MP Gina captured the hearts of women of Ughele with the Christmas and New Year funds, a gesture that still lingers on in the hearts of the women, children and youth of Ughele.
In the meantime, Kenwood Harry’s football cup also concluded on Wednesday with the official presentation of prizes to the winners of the 11-a-side soccer tournament.
This tournament is one of the biggest activities in Ughele village, which attracted people in Ughele, from Rendova Harbour in North Rendova and Viru on New Georgia Island.
These Christmas and New Year activities have come to an end and people are ready to resume their daily businesses and go back to work and school this New Year 2025.
