SAINT Joseph Tenaru Catholic Secondary School has announced that its ban on electronic devices for students remains the same for the 2025 academic year, citing concerns over distractions that could interfere with their learning.
The school management conveyed this decision in a statement released earlier this week.
The ban restricts students from taking with them to the school premises mobile phones, laptops, musical instruments or any other electronic devices.
The school administration emphasised the importance of students maintaining focus in class and urged students and parents to adhere to these rules.
“We would like to remind all students once more not to bring any electrical devices, such as cell phones, laptops, musical instruments or anything else that could hinder their ability to concentrate in class,” the statement read.
With the ban remaining in force, teachers expect students to arrive at school prepared with essential learning materials – pens, notebooks, pencils and other important supplies necessary for their education.
Registration for the new academic year will run from Wednesday 15 January to Friday 17 January and classes are scheduled to commence on Monday 20 January.
The school management said all boarding students are required to be on campus by Sunday 19 January by not later than 4pm.
The school management urged parents to settle any outstanding fees from the previous academic year.
“Before registering your children 2025, we respectively urge that parents whose 2024 school fees are still outstanding to make sure to complete the payment at the time of registration before registering for 2025 to ensure students can start the year without issues,” the statement added.
Following the release of schools results this week, most schools have commenced their registration process ahead of the commencement of classes on Monday 20January in compliance with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development’s (MEHRD’s) 2025 Academic Calendar.
