THE Malaita Provincial Council of Women officially launched its first-ever Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for 2024-2030.
The launching convened at the Malaita Provincial Assembly House in Auki on Friday was witnessed by both executive and non-executive members of the Malaita Provincial Assembly.
In his address, Malaita Province Premier Elijah Asilaua expressed his government’s ongoing support for the Council of Women.
He reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with the Council of Women to implement the newly launched SDP.
“The government is committed to continuing our partnership with the Malaita Province Council of Women and we are pleased to see such a significant step forward in the development of this important document.
“We are more than willing to support the implementation of this plan to benefit the people of our province,” Premier Asilaua stated.
Council Member Rose Liata, speaking on behalf of the Council of Women, hailed the document as a groundbreaking achievement for the council.
She expressed appreciation for the presence of the Members of the Provincial Assembly at the event.
“This is the first time such a document has been launched and presented to this Honourable House.”
“It is just a piece of paper and will only become meaningful if it is implemented to truly support the people of Malaita,” Mrs Liata said.
Mrs Liata highlighted the importance of collaboration between the provincial government and its stakeholders to ensure the success of the 2024-2030 SDP.
“This plan is a first of its kind, and it serves as a roadmap to address the issues and challenges outlined in this document. It is now up to all of you, our leaders, to support and help implement this plan to benefit our province.” she said.
