Motumahi Lodge located in East Rennell, Renbel Province has acknowledged the national government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) for its support through a double cabin land cruiser.
In a statement today, Sunday, the Lodge said, “Motumahi Lodge is proud to announce that it has received a double cabin cruiser from the national government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT).”
The statement said, this support marks an important milestone for Motumahi Lodge and for tourism development in East Rennell, the only UNESCO World Heritage site in the Solomon Islands.
Owner of Motumahi Lodge, Kevin Saueha, thanked the MCT and specifically acknowledged the former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Bartholomew Parapolo, and his team for facilitating the successful delivery of the vehicle to his islet-Lodge.
Saueha said it has been their long time wish to have a vehicle to serve tourists traveling to Motumahi Lodge and to other lodges in East Rennell.
This is a wish that prompted the management of Motumahi Lodge to sought support from the national government to address its transport concerns.
“We are very pleased with this important support. Currently, we are installing additional accessories to the vehicle. The target is to get the vehicle fully equip before we dispatch it to Rennell in the coming months,” Saueha said.

While welcoming the timely support, the management of Motumahi Lodge is concern about the province’s infrastructures especially the poor condition of the East Rennell road.
The road from Tigoa, Renbel’s provincial centre in West Rennell, to East Rennell has deteriorated over the years.
East Rennell road has reached its worse state and it’s the number one concern of all East Rennell businesses.
“There is a road project earmarked to improve the road in Rennell. We hope this proposed road project will take-off soon,” Saueha said.
Motumahi Lodge is committed to providing reliable transportation to its guests and to tourists destined to other lodges in East Rennell.
The management of Motumahi Lodge acknowledged that the vehicle delivered to their lodge will play a part to the overall development of tourism in Renbel Province.
Motumahi Lodge is dedicated to offering its tourists an authentic experience of East Rennell and its vast inland fresh water lake (Lake Tegano) while advocating for improved infrastructure for the safety and comfort of visitors to East Rennell.
