A MAN, who allegedly stabbed his wife for wearing hair extensions, has been released on bail and will appear in court on February 10.
The defendant is facing one count of Causing Grievous Harm.
The incident occurred on January 1 after the couple returned to their home in West Honiara after attending a New Year’s celebration at the Pacific Crown Hotel.
After arriving home, they had some refreshment and went into their bedroom to rest.
But, whilst in their bedroom, the wife asked her husband to go and buy her a bottle of water at a late-night shop and he went as requested.
However, when he returned, he started accusing his wife of wearing hair extensions.
The wife calmly replied that she would remove the hair extensions later, but the husband allegedly became aggressive.
He allegedly grabbed his wife’s dress and when she tried to escape, he pulled her hair extensions and tore part of her scalp.
The husband then allegedly used a pocket knife to stab his wife in the head, causing serious injuries.
The wife managed to flee to the White River Police Station, where she received assistance and was rushed to the National Referral Hospital (NHR) for urgent medical treatment.
She was admitted immediately due to the severity of her injuries.
The defendant’s matter will be mentioned again in court on February 10.
